To perform data analysis from a quantitative study, a dataset must be uploaded to KnowledgeHound via an API Integration or manually with a .sav file. This article will outline the steps to uploading a dataset manually, which will then be passed to KnowldgeHound's data processing team and be made available for analysis.

For detailed information on formatting datasets, and KnowldgeHound's capabilities and limitations around data, see The Complete KnowledgeHound Data Quality Guide. For a video tutorial on adding data, visit this video series about adding research.

Note: This guide is only relevant for users with the "Manager" status.

Step 1: Create a new study.

If there isn't already a study on KnowledgeHound to host the survey data, you'll first need to create one. To create a study, click "Add a New Study" and fill out the form with details about the project.

Step 2: Add the dataset files.

The files that KnowledgeHound needs to enable data analysis are:

  1. A single, unaggregated, raw .sav file from the survey project and

  2. The corresponding questionnaire

These files can be added on the Files tab of the study page. You must be in edit mode, which can be accessed by clicking the pencil-shaped icon at the top of the page. Once edit mode is enabled, select "Upload files" and select the .sav and questionnaire. Note that no single file should be larger than 1gb in size.

Step 3: Analyze your data!

When a .sav file is uploaded to a study (or a zipped .sav file), the data processing team automatically gets to work on the file. The data should be ready within 5-7 business days, but if you need expedition or to provide more details, reach out to your KnowledgeHound contact or chat with us using the chat bubble at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
