This feature is only enabled for admins and managers.

KnowledgeHound study dashboards are flexible and powerful, bringing the key outcomes of your research to life. Luckily setting up a study dashboard is straightforward.

Remember that you can always create a new study from the main library.

[ study library with create new study button ]

Once a study has been created you can access the study by finding the study tile in the library or if you are creating a new study you will automatically be brought to the dashboard after creating it.

For managers and admins clicking on the edit button will allow you to change the study name as well as customize the summary page. This includes the following:

  1. Adding a custom cover photo

  2. Adding a summary overview

  3. Adding Key insights

  4. Adding charts and documents

  5. Editing the study metadata

Adding a custom cover photo

Cover photos are meant to bring a study to life and add visual interest, communicating a bit about the study's intentions.

To customize the default cover image on study dashboards, simply click the "Photo" button and select a compatible file. If the file is accepted, it will automatically appear in a few seconds.

Below are helpful guidelines and recommendations to ensure great results.

  • You can load a .png, .jpg, or .gif file.

  • We recommend photos or graphics that are wider rather than taller.

  • We recommend a minimum size of 860px by 480px.

  • We do not recommend using text in cover photos. KnowledgeHound is a responsive application, which means as browser sizes change cropping will occur. If you must put text in the cover photo we recommend leaving ample padding around the edges so the text is not cut off. See the template below.

Adding a summary overview

When in edit mode you will notice a text area that appears below the three tabs. A brief summary of the study and/or objectives are great to help ground people. Your changes are auto-saved.

At any point in edit mode you can finish by clicking the 'back to view mode' button.

Adding Key Insights

Key Insights are any piece of information that you can pin to the summary to add as much insight as you'd like. These pins can contain an image that you upload, a description and/or a link.

You can customize each key insight, but the insight must contain an image or a headline. URLs are optional.

We've seen links to Vimeo, YouTube, online articles, Tableau dashboards and cute animated GIFs. Whatever you want to add is up to you!

Every key insight can be edited, removed and you can even drag and drop them to re-order. Your changes are auto-saved.

At any point in edit mode you can finish by clicking the 'back to view mode' button.

Adding charts and documents to the summary

For more information about charts see the article about data visualization.

First find the a data point you wish to add and after you've customized it to your liking add it to the dashboard by clicking the 'add question to story' button. In the modal you will see a button that says 'add to study summary'. You have the option to edit the title that will appear on the dashboard. Adding charts to study dashboards is that easy.

Adding documents is very similar. Simply find the document you loaded for the study and when you find a page that you want to add click the 'add to story' button. In the modal you will see a button that says 'add to study summary'. You have the option to edit the title that will appear on the dashboard.

TIP: Chart and document titles can be edited on the dashboard summary page when you are in admin mode. No need to re-pin the chart of document.

Editing the study metadata

The study metadata can be found on the question or files tabs in the dashboard. When you are in edit mode the metadata fields will become editable. You can add or remove metadata here. Your changes are auto-saved.

At any point in edit mode you can finish by clicking the 'back to view mode' button.
